Leapfrog Alliance receives 2025 “Global Impact Initiative” award
The Leapfrog Alliance is honored to receive the 2025 award for top Global Impact Initiative from Environmental Finance, an online news and analysis service, and being commended for our “cross-sector collaboration and focus on underserved communities while working to improve international standards.”
We formed the Leapfrog Alliance around an idea. This idea—that there's an opportunity to strengthen incentives for companies to support high-impact clean energy projects that expand energy access in under-electrified, underserved communities—has brought together a coalition of 19 diverse nonprofits across the globe.
Our nonprofit coalition has made notable contributions to inform stakeholders’ understanding of and respective contributions to strengthening corporate incentives for high-impact clean energy in these communities through greenhouse gas target-setting and accounting frameworks, including:
Developing general principles and solutions for strengthening corporate incentives
Promoting energy access and equity as general principles for corporate incentives
Convening dialogues to improve stakeholder understanding of the opportunities to improve corporate incentives
Offering specific recommendations for stakeholders to consider using for their responses to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol’s “Scope 2” survey
Elevating the substantive contributions of different Leapfrog Alliance supporter organizations—such as resources developed by Energy Peace Partners and EKOenergy—to inform stakeholder contributions to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and Science Based Targets Initiative’s revision processes currently underway
We are proud of what our community has already achieved. We are also excited for what comes next for the Leapfrog Alliance as we continue contributing to different greenhouse gas target-setting and accounting frameworks as well as explore new opportunities beyond these frameworks to strengthen corporate incentives.
